[Geuvadis_rnaseq] Important - Please read & respond!

Hello, This e-mail contains important information that affects the design of the RNAseq experiment which is done within the Geuvadis consortium. The time point at which the Iberian samples (IBS) would be available to us has shifted back to the end of 2011. Initially, those samples should have been available to us in the beginning of 2011 - but now this has changed (http://www.1000genomes.org/about). This means that we would have to wait for those samples until the end of the year (or potentially longer) until we could start with the sequencing. We've discussed this here in Geneva and concluded that this should not be a reason to delay data generation. We therefore suggest that we should analyze an African population (YRI) instead of the IBS population. This means that we will of course have less power for detecting regulatory variation among Europeans but it opens up the possibility to look at differences between continental populations. Unless you express disagreement with this change within the next 10 days - we will go ahead and analyze the YRI instead of the IBS population.
