Dear all,
I received this email about an upcoming conference on "twinning" with India in the theme of "sustainable biomass". It's organized by a EC-funded networking project (i.e. it's not a scam). Perhaps it could be interesting for you.
best wishes,
Veronica

Dear Raker,
Within the framework of the SAHYOG project (Strengthening Networking on Biomass Research and Biowaste Conversion – Biotechnology for Europe India Integration) I would gladly like to draw your attention to a Symposium and Networking event that we are organizing on 28th – 29th of October in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
The SAHYOG project is a EU-sponsored coordination activity to systematically bridge the on-going respective activities from India and Europe that help providing the basis for novel applications in a sustainable bio-economy of the future – the so-called knowledge based bio-economy (KBBE). Within SAHYOG, broad networking of respective scientific and industry communities, twinning of large sets of research projects, as well as short term exchange visits of researchers are implemented. For more information, please refer to: http://www.sahyog-europa-india.eu/
The SAHYOG Symposium and Twinning workshop will take place on 28th and 29th October 2013 in Utrecht, with the general topic of “Developments in Sustainable Biomass Valorisation: EU-India R&D collaboration on Biomass and Biowaste”. I hereby would like to invite to you to participate as a projectleader of an EC-funded project. During the event, it is also possible to participate in a Brokerage event where you can engage in discussions with a number of organisations and companies from India.
Further information on location, registration and other details on the event are included on the following website: http://www.b2match.eu/sahyog. Hotel reservation should be done by yourself and early registration is recommended. If you are not available on these dates, I would appreciate if you could forward this mail to a project partner.
I look forward to your reaction, and hope to meet you in Utrecht on the 28th of October.
Kind regards,

Dear all,
We have two upcoming deadlines:
1. (Another) project interim report: please send me your updates by 25 Sept
I need to submit a project interim report to the EC at the end of the month. If you can, please update your section(s) of the previous report. I will need your input by 25 Sept. FYI, I am attaching an excel file with internal communication, workshops attended, and publications (to be updated by all), and the Deliverable text (to be updated by the PIs) (these files are also in the Update folder of the intranet docs).
To update, you have 3 options:
1. (preferred) update the files directly on the intranet that are in the "Updates" folder www.biopredyn.eu/share<http://www.biopredyn.eu/share>
2. update these files and send them back to me
3. send me the info to be added and I will update the common files
2. Workshop teaching May 12-15: please send me titles by Monday 16 Sept
Before our annual meeting next year (May 15 afternoon-May 16) at the EBI (Hinxton, UK), we will give a workshop/course at the EBI, from May 12 (afternoon) to May 15 (morning).
The workshop is deliverable D8.7 (Task 8.5); according to the DoW, this workshop "will aim at teaching outside researchers the theoretical and practical aspects of the methods and tools developed during this project"
We now need to fix the talks/schedule. Please find below an outline, where you will find your acronym next to the topic(s) where you could participate. The titles for orientation and not carved in stone (some have been left as TBD). The idea is that these talks will be given by postdocs/PIs from each group.
Please give me (if possible, by next Monday, 16th Sept) the title of the talk(s) and the names of the speakers from your group. Again, this can be done either in the intranet (in the Update folder) or by sending me the info.
best,
Veronica
Dear all,
I'd like to send out a final reminder about the Gaussian Process Models summer school that Nicolas and Neil are organizing. The registration deadline has passed, but Nicolas has agreed to wait until Monday (14 May) for any last-minute BioPreDyn registrations.
I would strongly encourage you to join this summer school if possible. The combo of lectures and workshop will give everyone a great overview of the latest approaches to function approximation in machine learning. As Nicolas mentioned, there's a high demand for the course, and it's a pity for us not to take advantage of it.
Please contact Nicolas immediately if you're interested!
best,
Veronica
Dear BioPreDyners
As we discussed during the Naples meeting, Sheffield is organising a Summer
School on Gaussian Process models. Some funding for this event is provided
by BioPreDyn so we have reserved some seats for BioPreDyn members. However,
there is already a high demand and it would be very helpful for us to know
who intend to come (even if this is subject to change).
The event will be from the 10th to the 13th of June and lectures will be in
the SITraN building (http://sitran.dept.shef.ac.uk/contact.html). The draft
program for the summer school is on line here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsrYJ6eE3RSddFhYVElCTjFpcnVZOF…
And the link to the registration form is:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11WC5sF6WTQ3a-zKhzeDL_Y5JcKrqnptGzlOOfNE13R…
We are opening the registration to you guys early, so that you have
priority over places.
For now, we have also invited the speakers and their students (Oxford,
Aalto, Tuebingen, Nottingham).
Regarding the accommodation, here's three places nearby:
- Etruria House Hotel, from £36 per night: http://www.etruriahouse.co.uk
- Westbourn Hotel, around £55 per night:
http://www.westbournehousehotel.com
- Rutland Hotel, around £75 per night http://www.rutlandhotel-sheffield.com
Hope we will see you soon in Sheffield
Neil & Nicolas
ps let us know if you come!

Also, don't forget to upload your talk (if you are willing to share it).
Let me know if you can't access the intranet. (p.s. we changed the intranet to a much faster server, so it's worth trying it again).
2. the midterm report to be revised is on the intranet. Please revise your relevant WP sections if you have not already done so by Monday 18 March. Also, the deliverables are on the intranet if you want to revise or look at them.
3. Our annual meeting 2014 will be connected to the final EBI workshop, which will be taught by us. Workshop: May 12-15; meeting: afternoon May 15 (internal workshop for students/postdocs)-all day May 16.

Dear all,
Intranet: We've switched the intranet to a faster server. I hope that it will now be more useful!
As I told those of you who were at the meeting, I changed the password for everyone to simplify it for those who needed it simplified. (you can change your password if you want; sorry for the inconvenience). The site, user name, and password are:
biopredyn.eu/share<http://biopredyn.eu/share>
first_last name (yours, of course; no capitals)
first name (no capitals)
Please let me know if you have any problems.
Talks from Naples: if you are willing to share your talk, please put it into the intranet folder:
documents> meetings_workshops>2013 annual meeting> talks
I will also upload the minutes from the meeting here next week.
Best wishes,
Veronica

Dear all,
Please note that our internet and intranet will be down during a few hours today, starting now. We are moving them to a faster server, which I hope will help to make them more useful for us.
Best wishes,

Dear all,
Please find attached the final agenda for the Naples meeting. Not much has changed accept the addition of one point to the General Asssembly agenda, namely, how we will manage our 6-month extension to the project if it is granted (as approved by the EC officer).
Best wishes, and looking forward to seeing you in Naples.
Veronica
Dear all,
I have uploaded our current Midterm Report and the deliverables in progress on the intranet server (just to remind you: first name_last name, password; I could also start a dropbox if anyone needs it).
Also, please find attached the agenda for the general assembly meeting. Let me know if you have anything else to add.
Travel info for the meeting, from Paola:
To get to the hotel: take a bus from the airport to the station or, better, get off at the Piazza Municipio (Molo Beverello) and from there walk to the hotel (see attached pic).
>From the station, every bus goes to the Piazza Municipio.
However, a taxi is easiest.
Finally, send me a quick message if we should wait for you for the tour on Monday evening (you can contact Paola at 0039 3472703415).
Best wishes,
Veronica
